Community Farm Events Asheville
Engaging Family-Friendly Gatherings
At Ruby Ranch, we believe in fostering a sense of community through shared experiences and a love for the outdoors. Our events include learning sustainable agriculture practices, plant sales, fall gatherings, equine workshops and horse riding lessons, and interactive music and food events.
ASAP Farm Tour 2025
Join us for our second year of the ASAP Farm Tour! Last year, we put a lot of heart and effort into preparing for the hundreds of folks that visited our farm. Then 3 days later, the rains started and then we were hit by hurricane Helene that Friday. More than a third of our farm was under water. Comparatively, our damages were manageable, but we are still in the process of recovering and rebuilding. We are proud of what we have accomplished since then, and we look forward to hosting visitors again along with other farms in our area impacted by the hurricane. Whether you can attend the tour, or you support us in other ways, we thank you!
From the ASAP website: “ASAP’s annual Farm Tour is a chance to experience how food is grown and raised through guided tours, demonstrations, and tastings. The Farm Tour showcases the diversity of working farms in Western North Carolina, including vegetables, livestock, vineyards, orchards, flowers, fiber, and more! This is a family-friendly event and a great outing for visitors of all ages, abilities, and interests. All are welcome.
ASAP’s 2025 Farm Tour is a critical piece of hurricane recovery as it helps the local food economy rebound, strengthens the relationships between farmers and consumers, and encourages tourism from outside of Asheville. Join ASAP in sustaining our farming community.”

Community Workdays + Potluck
October 26 & November 23, 11-2, followed by a potluck
Come gather at the Ranch to help us work on some land-based projects, connect with other folks and enjoy a delicious shared meal. We will work on projects from 11am-2pm and then circle back around to eat food together. No previous skills needed! Children are welcome, but please leave your dogs at home.
Depending on the weather, one of these work days will focus on the propagation greenhouse. We offer this space to multiple growers as a sort of winter and spring propagation cooperative. Reach out if you’d like to grow with us!
October 19, 9-10am
This isn’t about sermons or shoulds. It’s about remembering how good it feels to:
- Breathe with the land and let the mountain air clear your mind
- Slow down enough to feel the small, sacred things around you
- Share space with wild beings and kindred humans who care about connection
- Nourish your heart with simple practices of presence and wonder
We’ll gather on the land of Ruby Ranch, nestled below Mount Pisgah, surrounded by horses, wildlife, and wide-open sky. Through gentle nature connection practices, quiet reflection, and shared circle, we’ll create a little pocket of magic and belonging together. A grounding tea will be offered.
Come as you are—muddy boots, big laughs, tender hearts all welcome.
Suggested donation: $ 10-30. No one is turned away for lack of funds—come as you are!

Dirt Church at the Ranch: Nature, Kinship & Mountain Magic
Outdoor Movie Night
We have been dreaming of showing films at the Ranch for the past two years, but we have been busy with other projects and activities. This has brought some exciting changes! We are finishing the inside of our barn to make it a warm and inviting space that will also have a wonderful spot for viewing films.
Is there a particular film that you would like us to show? Let us know!
Stay tuned!

This depends partly on why you are coming to the Ranch. This is a mostly outdoor space in the WNC mountains, which means the weather can change quickly. Be prepared with layers, a water bottle, snacks and/or sunscreen. Each specific event will let you know if you need to bring anything else. It is a working farm. Farm appropriate footwear encouraged.
-
We have a heated indoor bathroom available to the public.
-
We accept venmo, check, and cash. Most events will also accept credit card payments.

There is ample parking on sight. Four wheel drive is not required.

Horses are big, powerful animals that form relationships just like people. When meeting them for the first time, you may do so with the guidance of Ruby Ranch support staff. Of course you may quietly engage with them from a distance over the fence.
-
The Ranch is a kid-friendly space. Unless an event indicates otherwise, all events are family-friendly.
-
At this time, we ask that you leave your beloved furry canines at home. This is to keep the peace and security of the animals already living on site.
